ETHIOPIA HEIRLOOM By COA N°1 (WASHED)
Welcome to the shared cradle of humankind & coffee, Ethiopia. Legend has it that a goat shepherd named Kaldi (or Khalid) first discovered coffee around 850 CE, coffeea arabica. Coffee’s GOAT, no less.
This a micro lot was washed at the privately run washing station, Gogogu Bekaka owned & operated by Kadir Jabril, a fully traceable lot. That thanks to loosening restrictions & newer rules of the ECX (Ethiopia Commodities Exchange) we are now able to get in a more direct way, which also provides an added layer of transparency, not to mention, coffee provenance.
The Uraga Woreda farms stand 2100 m (& up) above sea level, many of them topping out at 2300. Altitude plays a role in coffee density; to higher altitudes, slower rates of maduration, which in turn produces a much denser product, with higher potential for both sweetness & acidity. We expect this fragrant exotic washed to be an amazing start of our 2024 journey.
Check label for roast date.
